Counselling & Psychotherapy for Individuals
Who I see
Some of the more severe problems for which people seek psychotherapy with me include PTSD, bipolar disorder, chronic, long term depression and severe childhood trauma.
The most common reasons people see me are stress, depression, anxiety, anger management, grief, past and recent trauma, relationship difficulties, sexual problems, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviour and general, non-specific unhappiness.
I also provide counselling to those wishing to enrich their lives. For example by improving communication skills, developing emotional literacy, assertiveness or raising self esteem.

My approach
My central objective is to build psychological resilience in my clients. Psychological vulnerabilities arise mainly from adverse past experiences. My job is to gain an understanding of the nature of these and to help you to overcome them. This means that whatever your current difficult is, I aim to resource you to manage it better. Just as having a strong immune system will help you rebuff all kinds of infections, so psychotherapy will help you to better deal with all kinds of stress, feel calmer, happier and better able to live life to the fullest. It puts you in the driving seat in your life, improves your self esteem and strengthens your ability to regulate your emotions.
